Cruel Young Men on the Internet
When I see the cruel things young men post on the Internet,
It takes me back to the Seventies how cruel we were,
To Nixon, as if only we could get rid of Nixon.
The man is driven away but saddled with financial responsibilities,
And gets no credit for meeting them, only the scorn of sons.
The scorn we sons gave my father for being so square,
Standing on his feet sixteen hours a day doing, get this, brain surgery.
And now the Republicans want this wealth for free,
No medicare for us Sloan Kettering for them:
They want to take it away from you and me,
Because we live in a collapsing society
In which people say, Ayn Rand, and claw for life at sand.
Boys learn compassion from their fathers.
