Hula Hula Said the Witches
“Witches have no wit, said the magician who was weak. Hula, hula, said the witches.” – Norman Mailer, An American Dream, 1965
So you’re gorked out and fearful in hospital in a foreign country as if you’d gone to Vietnam after all instead of dodging the draft, right?
And you are like seriously not well.
You want Mom. You want God.
You get the British neighbor lady from up the hill like Florence Frigging Nightingale bringing your Stuff. I will not identify her so as to respect her privacy, of course, but she was The Unknown Helper. And you were the ordinary sod on the battlefield with wife and children rawly left. For the light shines in the darkness and the darkness sees it not, when we help someone else.
