Congee and Othello Act I Sc 3 (as part of the Edward G. Nilges Grand High Shakespeare Reread). This scene is big and critical, for Othello must at one and the same time explain the Desdemona thing, and be dispatched to Cyprus to fight Johnny Turk. It includes his very noble (too noble?) speech about how Desdemona fell for him, evoking “antres vast and deserts idle” which made him in her eyes a superman and a helluva guy. And as was the custom in that age, the only thing for it was for a much younger and more innocent girl to elope with the much older man, a prescription for disaster quite outside the racial difference.
